I Just Can't Help Myself

I have to knit baby hats! I just have to. They make me happy. This one, along with the tiny little beaded socks, is available as a set in my bumblebina ETSY shop and is the perfect size for a newborn.

I knit this whole hat while watching Cupid. I LOVE this show. Is anyone else watching it? I hope they give it a chance. Seems like they cancel shows so fast now.

Update: Set has SOLD

Nibblefest - Favorite Childhood Story

The theme this month is Favorite Childhood Story. I've decided to enter 3 paintings this month--"Once Upon a Time", "Chloe" and "Yellow Lamb". If you're not familiar with Nibblefest, it's a themed art contest each month. And all the entries begin at just $.99!

Update: All SOLD - Thank you!

IF - Impossibility

Being poisoned by your evil stepmother and kissing a frog to find your handsome prince are improbable, but not a total impossibility!!

This is my entry for Illustration Friday this week. The theme is Impossibility.

This piece is also my entry for the EBSQ Junk Mail Show. Much of the collage elements came right from my junk mail pile.

And it's also my entry for the Nibblefest Art Contest for this month.

How's that for multi-tasking!?!

**SOLD**

Newest Piece - Once Upon a Time

You may be seeing a lot of this one on my blog. It's going to be my entry in several of the online contests I'm involved in. And I'm pretty excited about it as well. I had so much fun with this painting. It's acrylic, ink, colored pencil and collage on paper and measures 9.5" x 7.5" FRAMED.

It will soon be listed on e-bay for the Nibblefest Contest, so head on over tonight and take a look if you're interested.

The theme for this month is Favorite Childhood Story. Instead of choosing one story in particular, I decided to include elements that are universal to many of the Princess/Prince stories we grew up with.

This little square with the apple is one of my favorite parts of the piece. Simple and to the point.

I know I'm a junkie for WIP (work in progress) pictures. I LOVE to see the journey a painting takes before it's finished. So here's a WIP of this piece laid out on the cover of a sketchbook that I was using as a "table".

IF - Fleeting

Childhood is fleeting!

A wise woman once said about having little ones: "The trick is to enjoy it. Don’t wish away your days of caring for young children. This is your great day. Sometimes we get so caught up in the physical work and trivia that we forget the big picture. We forget whose children they really are. When the house is filled with children, noise and teasing and laughter, you get the feeling this is forever. Before you know it they will be gone.”

I think of this every time I see this drawing I did of my daughter who is still little, but not this small anymore. The time has gone fast.

Inspire Me Thursday - Spice

We Are All Unique, Mixed Media on Canvas, 20" x 24" (SOLD)

The title of this painting is "We Are All Unique" so I thought it fit quite nicely with the subject of Inspire Me Thursday this week which is Spice.

Variety is the spice of life, after all!

Ribbit - New Teacher Sign :)

This one was ordered for a teacher who loves frogs. This was a really fun sign to make. The frog made me giggle as I painted him! Doesn't he look sort of lovesick? :)

Bella's Mittens From Twilight

I liked these so much in the movie that I did a little searching for a pattern. Found this excellent one and found out that there are lots of other Twilight nerd knitters out there! :)

I finished these right in time for...Spring. Oh well, they will be wonderful next year!

My next knitting project? Another pair of Bella's Mittens for my friend's daughter--she is 12 and in love with Twilight.

Inspire Me Thursday - Key

I am a little obsessed with door plates. I think they are just beautiful. These are all vintage. I put them on wood and now they are all over my house.

IF - Talisman

Good luck charms come in many shapes and sizes!!

The theme this week for Illustration Friday is Talisman.

Definition: a small object intended to bring good luck and/or protection to its owner
