It's Summer Time!

And what do you need in the summer? A Watermelon Bag! Just finished this little cutie this afternoon. I've had the idea for this bag in my head for weeks. And when I went to start it I found that I had the perfect yarn in my stash--that doesn't always happen. So I got right to work.

I had a different fabric in mind for the liner. In fact, I bought this fabric for a completely different project, but when I pulled out all my fabric, I noticed this one actually even has watermelons on it. It was a sign. Sewing the liner is my least favorite part. Sewing is still new for me. But it has a squared off bottom and a pocket--not bad for a beginner!

Not sure where this bag is going to end up. Maybe ETSY, maybe a gift, maybe my closet... :) We'll see.

New Yarn

I don't know what, but I have to make something with this yarn from Lion Brand! I mean it has my name written all over it. :)

Speaking of yarn...I just got a package in the mail containing all this vintage 100% wool yarn!

I won it on e-bay. Although my husband keeps saying, "Is it really winning? You had to pay for it and now we have to find somewhere to put it all..." Whatever, he doesn't get it. This isn't just 40 skeins (40 skeins!!!) of yarn--this is tons and tons of future knitting/felting projects just waiting to be discovered!

I know I am a nerd.

A Connected Teacher Name Sign

This fun sign was a special order. I haven't done a connected teacher sign before. I think it's great fun! It will certainly brighten up this teacher's classroom.

Name signs (teacher, child and connected) are always available in my ETSY shop.

Mini Trees

More from my Mini Trees series. These two little sweeties are available now on e-bay.

*Both trees have SOLD*

New Name Sign

This one went in the mail yesterday. What a fun color scheme for a boy's room. It was done to match the cutest Pottery Barn Kids (what isn't cute from Pottery Barn, right?) bedroom set with monkeys and stripes and polka dots. Adorable!

Name signs are available in my bumblebina ETSY shop.

A Different Sort of Cupcake

I've painted cupcakes (several times). But this is my first knitted cupcake. It's most certainly not my last knitted cupcake. This was so fun to knit. It's a pincushion and has one of those awful tomato pincushions knitted inside of it. For some reason, I find that so funny. It's like I've made a beautiful outfit for the homely little tomato. I've given it a new life! :)

Anyway, the pattern is from Susan B. Anderson who I just love. Her patterns are always so creative and innovative. Who would have thought to put the tomato inside? Susan, that's who!

IF - Unfold

These two have been circling around each other for weeks. There's an attraction there whether they'll admit it or not. Their friends are all just waiting to see how this unfolds.

This is my entry for Illustration Friday this week. The theme is unfold.

Eric and Olivia are each 10" x 10", acrylics on canvas, and are available in my ETSY shop. (UPDATE: Both paintings have SOLD).

Folk Art Lady - Inspired by My Daughter

Whenever my daughter draws girls she has them holding their little skirts out as if they are about to curtsy. (I know I'm biased, but she is gifted, right?)

Anyway, I think it's adorable and knew I had to do one of my Folk Art Ladies this way--with her little skirt just so. Here she is. This is Jane and she's rather charming waiting to be asked to dance.

Jane, 7.5" x 6", acrylics and mixed media on 1/2" MDF

She was my entry in the EBSQ Reinterpreting Children's Art Show and won "Member's Mention" in that show.

I love the side polka dots--so playful and sweet!

IF - Craving

We Are All Unique, 20" x 24", Acrylics and Mixed Media on Canvas (SOLD)

I live in the desert, so what do I get a craving for in the summer? Flowers and color. Right now the desert is alive with our own kind of colors. We have beautiful purple Butterfly Bushes and flowering cacti that are breathtaking. But I do miss, crave really, your garden variety (pun intended) blossoming flowers with lush green leaves and lazy bees and bugs circling all around them that we used to see at this time when we lived in the mid-west.
